Brooklyn, New York
Students participating in the New York missions trip will work in the heart of Brooklyn, with the Center for Student Missions to work with the homeless population.
According to the Coalition for the Homeless, during 2009 the number of homeless New Yorkers residing in shelters each night has reached the highest point in New York City’s history as the city and the country faced the hardships of the economic downturn. In March 2010 some 38,000 homeless men, women, and children were sleeping each night in the New York City shelter system, including 15,500 children, 14,200 adult family members, and 8,000 single adults. Thousands more sleep on city streets, park benches, and subway trains.
Our mission for New York is to touch as many lives, of our friends and neighbors in a state of homelessness, with the love of Christ as possible.
